What is Language and Lattes?
Language and Lattes
The Language and Lattes Club at Fossil Ridge High School provides an opportunity for students who strive to be fluent in a language to practice outside the boundaries of class. Language and Lattes pairs students with similar language experiences to practice the communication skills necessary for mastering a language. Minimal language experience is required.
Similar to pen pals, partners may discuss topics that they would discuss in their daily lives, so they can start participating in real-world conversations. Partners will practice their speaking and listening skills and may provide each other with feedback for improvement upon their next meeting.
Partners may connect on their own terms to meet virtually, during lunches, or at a local coffee shop to practice their foreign language while sipping on lattes. Partners in World Language National Honors Society may also choose to meet on the last Wednesday of every month at lunch in room E203 to get hours.

Get Started
1. To sign up, click here.
2. Wait 1-3 days for an email back with basic information on a potential language partner.
3. Let us know if that partner fits your language needs.
4. If both parties agree, we will send you your partner’s email. At that point, partners will be responsible to set up a time and date to meet with each other. Partners can also choose to meet on the last Wednesday of every month at lunch in room E203 to get World Language National Honors Society hours.
5. Meet and practice your skills freely or discuss the provided conversation topics.
6. After meeting for the first time, fill out a feedback form by clicking here.
During Meeting
How to Set-Up a Meeting:
Email your language partner with information regarding a good time and location to meet. Choose to meet at your local coffee shop or call virtually from the comfort of your own couch.
What to Do to Help Your Language Partner
- Bring a notepad or keep a mental note to keep track of your partner’s strengths and weaknesses.
- Be receptive to your partner’s feedback and don’t feel timid to give your partner feedback. This opportunity is to help and learn for both of you.
- Give your language partner things to work on before your next meet up.
